Things are going kinda crappy in our country and the world today. 75,000 Americans dead from COVID-19. We’re heading right towards 100,000 by the end of the month and much higher after. And on top of that we have to deal with murder hornets, the worst unemployment in American history, and murder hornets. We need some good news. Here are two pieces of it.
First, 75 years ago in 1945, Nazi Germany surrendered and World War 2 in Germany was on.
Second, 40 years ago the WHO declared “the world and all its peoples have won freedom from smallpox”. Smallpox was one of the deadliest diseases in history. From 1900 to its eradication in 1980 it killed an estimated 300 – 500 million people.
As bleak as the world can seem right now, we’ve overcome worse.
