Mueller Set to Indict

A federal grand jury in Washington has approved the first criminal charges in the special counsel’s investigation into Russian election interference, two sources told NBC News, marking a significant milestone in an inquiry that has roiled Donald Trump’s presidency.

NBC News reports that Mueller’s Office of the Special Counsel will make public an indictment on Monday, but without naming who would be charged and for what. The timing was confirmed by a second source familiar with the matter.

The Mueller investigation is part of the ongoing inquiry into an alleged collusion between the Russian government and the Trump presidential campaign.

This particular investigation is the result of the controversial termination of James Comey as the FBI director by the Trump Administration.

Mueller has also been investigating whether Trump obstructed justice by terminating Comey while he was conducting the Flynn Investigation

Mueller was appointed by Deputy U.S. Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. The decision to appoint Mueller was due to Attorney General Jeff Sessions recusing himself from any probe in the Russia investigation.
