For someone who ran as an outsider and anti-establishment, Donald Trump sure knows how to act like one. The President landed in Saudi Arabia on Saturday ready to do business and seal deals with our Islamic “allies”. At the start of his international tour, the Republican president signed the largest arms sale contract in US history for $110 billion to modernize the Middle East’s best-equipped army after Israel.

These kinds of arms deals aren’t unique to this administration, Obama did the same thing last year. However, that deal was only $1 billion, less than one percent the size of this one. But some members of Trumps party are ready to fight this agreement. 

The conservative libertarian senator from Kentucky, Rand Paul has promised to issue a resolution of disapproval to block the Saudi deal as soon as the administration formally notifies congress. Cited reasons would most likely be the Saudi’s numerous human rights abuses and war crimes on the war in Yemen.

Trump’s visit to the oil rich nation is not purely political either. His daughter made sure to take advantage of his powerful position to benefit herself.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the World Bank’s Women Entrepreneurs Fund, an idea that Ivanka Trump proposed, will work to help women in the Middle East who want to start their own businesses.

The donation from Saudi Arabia and the UAE was set to be announced at a Sunday event with President Trump’s daughter, according to the report.
