How to Get Real News

I am often asked how to tell if what you get is real or fake news. Here is my quick checklist to figure out what to trust.

  1. Is it from a journalist and/or agency that has been accurate in the past? Past accuracy suggests credibility while past errors suggest a bad reporter.
  2. Does it have multiple sources? Are they named sources? The more sources the better. It is even better if they are named because they are willing able to put their credibility on the line.
  3. Do multiple outlets or journalists corroborate the original story?
I know this was short but if all three of these are meet there three standards you can trust the story.
